2019 Château LAMOTHE-BOUSCAUT. Pessac, Bordeaux

Bin:  224

Alcohol percentage:  14.0%

Area:

Pessac-Léognan was only designated n 1987. It was always the smart part of the Graves area where the best properties were located. It’s a strange area to visit, intertwined with the suburbs, just south of Bordeaux, but does produce excellent red wine and almost all the top whites of the region

Grape variety:

80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Semillon; matured in barrel for 8 months (30% new oak)

Producer:

From the website of the UK agent –
Château Lamothe-Bouscaut is located in the village of Cadaujac and dates back to the 12th century. In 1999 it was acquired by its neighbour, Château Bouscaut, owned by Sophie Lurton and Laurent Cogombles.

Old Bridge rating:

Good Semillon-Sauvignon deserves more recognition. There’s a subtle oakiness but lots of complexity and no lack of freshness. Great food wine
