2020 DIANE ROSÉ, Famille Arbeau. Frontonnais, S. France

Bin:  293

Alcohol percentage:  12%

Area:

The Arbeau website describes their location nicely:
“Our village, Labastide-Saint-Pierre, clothed in the red brick of the Midi and the rounded clay tiles of the south of France, sat between Toulouse and Bordeaux, on the banks of the River Tarn, a mere step away from the Garonne. Land of confluence and exchange, where cassoulet and rugby form part of our DNA, Gascony rubs shoulders with Quercy, and Mediterranean and Atlantic embrace.”

Grape variety:

Syrah & Gamay, fermented cool and bottled early to capture maximum freshness.

Producer:

The Arbeau family have 70 hectares of vineyard in the Frontonnais area in SW France. They are in the process of converting the vineyards to organic.

Old Bridge rating:

Labelled as ‘Vin de France’ because it includes Gamay which is not authorised in the area. (The key local grape is Negrette, which has character but is not ideal for rosé). This is fresh, fruity, lively and ultra-drinkable.
