2007 GHIAIE DELLA FURBA, Capezzana. Tuscany, Italy

Bin:  530

Alcohol percentage:  14%

Area:

Capezzana is in the Carmignano region, 24km’s north west of Florence. The area is distinct from neighbouring Chianti, having a slightly warmer climate, especially in autumn, allowing for the full ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon

Grape variety:

50% Caberneg Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, 20% Merlot; aged for 14 months in French oak ‘barriques’

Producer:

The gorgeous 100 hectare Capezzana estate has been owned by the Contini Bonacossi family for centuries. Barco Reale means ‘royal palace’ and refers to the property of the Medici Grand Dukes, who were (unsurprisingly) previous owners. This is their ‘Super Tuscan’, using international grape varieties

Old Bridge rating:

Under-stated and rather elegant example of Bordeaux grapes made in Tuscany

£31.35 per bottle in a mixed case of 6 bottles
