Irroy are based in Reims, but source grapes (like all houses) from all over the Champagne region.
70% Pinot Noir / Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay, from 30 vineyard plots; matured ‘on the lees’ for two and a half years.
Maison Irroy was founded in 1820 and has been owned by the famous house of Taittinger since 1955.
This is is in Extra Brut style (maximum 6g of sugar per litre) but doesn’t have the angular austerity of many examples. There’s a softness and easiness – it’s a great value introduction to this truly dry style of Champagne.
