Rustenberg has been producing grapes since 1682 and wine since 1892. It was bought in 1941 by Peter and Pamela Barlow bought Rustenberg and is now run by their son Simon. This wine is named after a previous owner who became Prime Minister of South Africa

Maturity potential:

Old Bridge rating:

One of the most genuinely Bordeaux-like of the new world Bordeaux-style reds on our list. There’s a dry, cedary edge which may seem a little ‘firm’ at first, but works brilliantly with the right food

Food match:

Treat it as a claret – classic roasts would work best
