2009 LATE HARVEST GEWURZTRAMINER, Greywacke. Marlborough, NZ (Half Bottle)

Bin:  930

Alcohol percentage:  12%

Area:

Fruit for this wine comes from a single vineyard in the Brancott Valley

Grape variety:

Gewurztraminer, harvested late with some ‘botrytis’ (“noble rot”). The fermentation was stopped to leave the natural sweetness (110 grammes per litre)

Producer:

Greywacke is the project of Kevin Judd, the ex-winemaker of Cloudy Bay. It has instantly attained cult status as soon as it has been release. The name comes from the indigenous Greywacke rock, typical of the Marlborough region

Maturity potential:

2011-2014

Old Bridge rating:

Luscious sweetness but admirable balance. The spicy Gewurz character is under-stated
