2012 MOSCATO, Peter Lehmann. Barossa Valley, Australia

Bin:  175

Alcohol percentage:  10%

Area:

The Barossa is famous for its big, spicy rich reds. All the more amazing that Lehmann can make such a light and fruity white

Grape variety:

100% Muscat; the fermentation is stopped early to leave lots of grapey sweetness (43 g/l of residual sugar to be exact)

Producer:

Peter Lemann is one of the great names in Australian wine – famous for persevering with Barossa Shiraz when it was right out of fashion; and now still innovating ahead of the game

Vintage:

A cool, slow ripening period which has in turn produced superb white wines with delicacy and finesse.

Old Bridge rating:

This style was invented in the U.S. and has been a huge success very quickly. The natural fruitiness of Aussie white wine is perhaps an even better source

Food match:

For those with a sweet tooth, but perhaps not quite sweet enough to go with pudding
