2012 NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES, 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale, JF Mugnier

Bin:  762

Alcohol percentage:  13%

This famous Clos was owned by the Mugnier family since 1902 but the grapes were taken, under a share-cropping agreement, by the merchant house of Faiveley, until 2003. Overnight the Mugnier estate grew from 4 to 14 hectares.
It’s the largest single-owned ‘Clos’ in the region, and is right at the edge of the NSG appellation, bordering Chambolle Musigny.

Grape variety:

Pinot Noir aged in new oak barrels (from Allier and Nevers).

Maturity potential:

Already impressive, at its best around 2027.

Old Bridge rating:

Top quality from a very good vintage. Plenty of richness but, as usual with Muginer, there is some of the gentleness of Chambolle Musigny balancing the power of the ‘Nuits’ style.
