2011 PERNAND-VERGELESSES, Clos de la Croix de Pierre Blanc, Louis Jadot. Burgundy

Bin:  270

Alcohol percentage:  13%

Pernand is one of the three villages beneath the hill of Corton and is in fact (a good nerdy fact) the only village in Burgundy that produces both white and red wine at regional, village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru level.
A standard white Pernand can be a little lean; this, with bottle age, has matured into a nicely nutty, gentle, elegant bottle of Burgundy.
The Clos de la Croix de Pierre is an east/south-east facing vineyard right next to the Premier Cru En Caradeux, very close to the village itself

Grape variety:

Chardonnay, aged in oak (very small proportion of new oak) for 15 months

Louis Jadot is a large négociant (merchant) but this is from one of their own domaine vineyards

£28.45 per bottle in a mixed case of 6 bottles
