2017 PERNAND-VERGELESSES, Clos de la Croix de Pierre, Jadot

Bin:  270

Alcohol percentage:  13%

Pernand is one of the three villages beneath the hill of Corton and is in fact (a good nerdy fact) the only village in Burgundy that produces both white and red wine at regional, village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru level.
The ‘Clos de la Croix de Piérre’ is situated within ‘En Caradeux’, which is a Premier Cru vineyard for red wine, but only ‘village’ for whites. It faces east, not far from the centre of Pernand. The soil is mainly chalky with small pebbles on the surface. It takes its name from a large stone cross situated at the edge of the area.

Grape variety:

100% Chardonnay

Old Bridge rating:

A standard white Pernand can be a little lean; this, from an excellent vintage, is maturing into a nicely nutty, gentle, elegant bottle of Burgundy.

Original price was: £33.00.Current price is: £29.50. Special offer price
