2010 RIESLING, Dandelion Vineyards. ‘Wonderland of Eden Valley’, Australia

Bin:  118

Alcohol percentage:  12%

Grape variety:

100% Riesling from 100 year old vines

Producer:

Dandelion is a new venture set up by Zar Brooks and his winemaker wife Elena, with help from growers Brad Rey and Carl Lindner to produce a range of wines from their favourite vineyards. Writer James Halliday has said “there can be few more promising new ventures than this one”. Note – “minimal sulphur dioxide added”

Maturity potential:

Will keep for at least 5 years

Old Bridge rating:

Low in alcohol and high in natural acidity, this is bracing dry Riesling of real ‘purity’. Best in the summer, in the open air, but also a great foil for mildly spicy fish or vegy dishes

Press review:

“Fresh, limey and racily mineral, bottled just 12 weeks after the harvest to keep the fruit fresh” – Steven Spurrier’s wines of the month, Decanter Magazine June 2011
96 points, Australian Wine Companion, James Halliday, 27 July 2011 – “Quintessential Eden Valley, with fragrant lemon and lime blossom aromas, the elegant palate driven by the pure fruit promised by the bouquet; has great balance, line and length.”
