Verdicchio is on the Adriatic (east) coast and one of the best sub-regions is Castelli di Jesi. It’s a cool, green area where ripening is slow and the Verdicchio grape (dull when over-cropped, but excellent if shown due care and attention) can reach its full potential.

Grape variety:

100% Verdicchio, picked by hand and made very simply with a cool fermentation (using natural yeasts) and just a couple of months in tank on its lees before bottling. It’s all about capturing the under-stated fruit


Andrea Felici runs this small (10 hectare) estate with his son Leopardo, who trained as a sommelier in London and Florence before returning to the family property, converting it to organic farming and raising the quality and status of the wines.

Old Bridge rating:

Lovely balance of that simple drinkability of many Italian whites with a hint of the nutty, waxy complexity that Verdicchio can produce in the best sites.
