2021 ZWEIGELT ROSÉ, Ehmoser. Wagram, Austria

Bin:  295

Alcohol percentage:  12%

Area:

From their website:
“The Josef Ehmoser winery is located in Tiefenthal in the community of Grossweikersdorf, 30 kilometres east of Krems and 45 kilometres west of Vienna. They are in the wine growing sub-region of Wagram. The vineyards are located in Tiefenthal on the left bank of the Danube, somewhat removed from the river, between Grafenegg in the west and Heldenberg in the east.”
The estate is now run by Josef and Martina, the third generation of the Ehmoser family to do so.

Grape variety:

100% Zweigelt, macerated on the skins before being fermented cool, as a white wine (without skins) and bottling after a couple of months maturation in tank on lees.

Old Bridge rating:

Zweigelt, when produced in a style for early-drinking, is much like a Beaujolais – fresh, lively and thirst-quenching. Made this way, as a rosé, it has those characteristics but also a spicy dryness that makes it particularly food-friendly.
