2017 CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET, Philippe Colin. Burgundy (Magnum)

Bin:  856

Alcohol percentage:  13%

Philippe Colin evolved from the previously renowned Domaine Colin-Deleger. He is the brother of Bruno and cousin of Marc, both of whom also run their own estates. He has around 10 hectares of vines in and around both Chassagne and Puligny. The winery is a modern building just outside Chassagne – not as atmospheric as some Burgundian estates, but efficient and very organised, no doubt making the winemaking task much easier.

Old Bridge rating:

I am not a fan of Philippe Colin’s labels, but otherwise I am always impressed by the wines. Such intensity and richness, and relatively sensibly priced compared to his neighbours and colleagues.
