2020 COLLIOURE, ‘Serral’, Domaine Madeloc. Roussillon, France

Collioure is a beautiful little fishing village on the coast south of Perpignan (not far north of Barcelona). The spectacular terraced vineyards literally overlook the Mediterranean.

Serral is actually made from vineyards on the inland side of those hills, with bush vines trained on vertical poles.

60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, matured for 15 months in old wood.

Pierre Gaillard and his family created Domaine Madeloc, based in neighbouring Banyuls in 2002. He previously worked for Guigal in the Rhône Valley and still makes wine from vineyards he owns in and around St Joseph.
